Dr Harkiran Kaur Khaira, MS(OBGyn), FICMCH

Is a MBBS graduate and MD OBG from Govt Medical College, Patiala. She did Registrarship from Govt Medical College, Patiala after which she joined MKH, Patiala.

She joined Medical College, Faridkot in 1985 as Senior Lecturer, where she has rendered service to a mix of urban and rural population. In her own words, she has enjoyed the bulk of her clinical work experience during her stint in Faridkot which spanned over two decades. She was instrumental in changing the dynamics of the Dept of OBGyn in Faridkot and in those early years when referral was the norm, took the challenge of tackling every kind of case. She is a skilled surgeon and is still called upon by her junior and colleagues for her expertise. Dr Harkiran is a very well known name in and around Faridkot, especially in the field of infertility. The Red Cross Society honoured her Extraordinary Services in 1997. She became Professor in the same College in 1998 and was appointed Head of Dept in year 2000. She was honoured by IMA, Faridkot Chapter for Exemplary Surgical Expertise in the year 2002. She is a teacher; every student would want to have. She has taken keen interest in the formulation and execution of OBGyn curriculum. She is on the advisory board of Jalandhar chapter of FOGSI. She was on Board of  Studies of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences from 2007 to 2012. She has served as Subject Expert in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and made important contributions towards curriculum development and assessment of students. She served in Faridkot till 2005.  

She joined Adesh Medical College in 2005 as Head of Dept, OBGyn and has the distinction of establishing the department form its infancy till its growth into a state of art unit, including its elevation to a post graduate teaching department. She was Dean, Student Welfare from 2006 to 2012. She worked as Medical Superintendant, Adesh Hospital from 2010.

Dr Harkiran took charge as Principal, Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Dec 2012. She is an astute administrator and has since been steering the college towards all round development. She is also the Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Adesh University and her presence on the Chair is an invaluable asset to the University. She is Convener of Board of Studies of MBBS, Postgraduate Medical and MSc Medical Sciences. With several publications under her belt and an experience that is unmatched, she continues to mentor research as the Chairperson of  Research Committee of AIMSR. Even with all the administrative work that she is currently in charge of, Dr Harkiran is still a clinician and finds time to teach and train her graduate and post graduate students.

The Ahmedabad Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society (AOGS) was established / conceived in 1936 by 5 members. Dr. (Mrs.) Medora was the founder president and Dr. S. B. Anklesaria was the founder Secretary.

The present strength of the society was increased exactly hundreds times.
